Award Winning
YogaKids "Tools for Schools" Training
Debuts in Virginia Beach

Feb. 2007, Virginia Beach, Virginia -- Children, parents, teachers and local school boards now have access to an award-winning yoga program created to be an innovative and supportive new teaching solution for children ages 5-12. Called YogaKids Tools for Schools and brought to communities by YogaKids International, the primary goal of the program is creating less stress and greater success for teachers and students. YogaKids Tools for Schools links movement, learning and creative activities to the subjects educators need to cover over the school year. Fun and easy-to-use yoga lesson plans are used as a springboard to explore a full range of classroom curricula - from the creative arts and physical education/health, to math, the sciences, language arts, character development and more.

Researchers from the Purdue University and Indiana University Schools of Education have developed a measurement tool that allows each school to evaluate the benefits the program delivers. It gives teachers and administrators data to report to school leadership, boards, and parent-teacher organizations and demonstrate the value of their investment in the program. YogaKids has also been endorsed by health and wellness experts, Andrew Weil, MD and Deepak Chopra, MD.

YogaKids trainer, Amy Haysman of Alpharetta was instrumental in developing the YogaKids Tools for Schools training program and her expertise will help teachers seamlessly integrate Tools for Schools into Virginia's statewide performance standards. Amy has trained YogaKids Facilitators from all over the world.

DeKalb's award winning Fernbank Elementary School has been using Tools for Schools all year. Second grade teacher Kristen Creticos found the training essential and inspiring. "Good teachers are always looking for fresh ways to reach their students. This is a great program for all learning types."

YogaKids Tools for Schools can be scaled to the needs and interests of each school and district. It can be implemented one teacher at a time, by classroom or school-wide.

Her award-winning book, Education the Whole Child Through Yoga, is included in the YogaKids Tools for Schools program.

"We know school boards are counting pennies and teachers are strapped for time, and we were very mindful of these realities when we put the teaching solution together," said Wenig.

An international training will be offered for certified classroom teachers at Angela Phillips Yoga Studio in Virginia Beach on April 7th At Angela Phillips Yoga Studio.
